Sausage Cabbage Broccoli Skillet

Are you looking for a dinner idea that’s easy & delicious and one the whole family will love? This Cheesy Sausage Cabbage Broccoli Skillet is a great low-carb, one-skillet dinner that’s packed with healthy vegetables, Italian sausage and cheesy deliciousness!

This has become a favorite around our house because you can throw it together in a matter of minutes and it makes enough so you can eat on it for a couple of days. Did I say it was delicious?? Well…let me tell you, it is! You really don’t need to serve anything else with it (although you certainly can) and it’s great any time of year.

I do think it would be extremely satisfying as a Fall or Winter time meal, but like I said…I love this year round!

It’s also a great meal choice if you’re on the low carb (Keto) wagon! But if you’re more in the low fat camp, there are somethings you can tweak, as well.

As you can see from the pic below, we use fat free milk. Also, I show that it’s made with cream cheese, but honestly, we’ve made it with and without. Either way, it’s just as good and if you want to add the cream cheese but are watching your fat intake, just use fat free.

So if your ready to try it, let’s make it!

As you can see in the above pic, all you need are some basic ingredients:

  • Cabbage
  • Broccoli
  • Italian sausage
  • Milk
  • Cream cheese (optional)
  • Butter
  • Colby Jack & Mozzarella cheese
  • Seasoning (I love Tony Chacheres)
  • Minced garlic (not shown)

In a high sided skillet or dutch oven, add the milk, butter, minced garlic & cream cheese over a low/medium heat.

While everything is melting, chop the cabbage, but make sure not to scorch your milk mixture.

Once the butter and cream cheese are melted and creamy, add chopped cabbage, broccoli, cheese & seasoning to your skillet.

Give it a good stir and cover.

Next, cut your grilled sausage up. If you can’t or don’t want to grill it, you can cut it up and cook it in another skillet until done.

**Tip** You may want to cook/grill your sausage as the first step, before you actually put everything together. Then, once you have it already cut up, begin assembling it. This will keep you from accidentally overcooking the veggies.

putting it all together!

Add the sausage to the skillet, cover and cook over medium heat for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally until the veggies are done.

Lastly, serve it up and enjoy! Undeniably, this one makes a fantastic comfort-food like meal, but without so much guilt! Like I mentioned above, if you’re following a Keto/low carb diet, this one fits the bill and it’s also one that your kids will like! What a great way to get those vegetables in!

If you give this one a try, I’d love to know what you think, in the comments!
