Easy Oven Baked French Fried Onion Chicken

If you’re looking for a quick, easy and delicious meal, well…here it is!  Easy French Fried Onion Chicken!  I found this recipe several years ago, on the back of French’s French Fried Onions.  They may still have it on the package.

Who doesn’t love these onions!  I’m guilty of snacking on these while I’m preparing the dish.  What makes it so great is the chicken is baked instead of fried and it only takes a few minutes to prepare.

Let’s Make It!

Easy French Fried Onion Chicken:

Start out with chicken breast, a couple of eggs, a large can of French fried onions and some flour.

Cut your chicken into strips.  Beat your eggs in a bowl and pour the onions into a gallon storage bag.   Using a large serving spoon, put two heaping spoonfuls of flour into the bag and crush the onions up using either your hands, a rolling pin or the bottom of a glass.

Dip the strips in egg first, then put into the bag to coat each strip.  (I keep adding flour, as needed, because the egg makes the crushed onion sticky.)

Lay the strips side by side in a sprayed (cooking spray) casserole.

Once you have them coated, you can add a few of your own seasonings, if you like, but it’s totally optional.  I use garlic powder and paprika.

Put them in a preheated, 400 degree oven and cook for about 20-30 minutes or until golden brown.

When they’re done, you have a delicious, crispy, French Fried Onion Chicken that the whole family will love!

I usually serve with mashed potatoes and a vegetable, but this dish is so versatile, you can pair it with just about anything!  Try it with rice or pasta.  If you’re watching your carbs, try it with a couple of veggies and no starches.
